The populace was 7,332 at the 2010 census.

It was titled after Wauseon, a Potawatomi Native American chief who lived in the region before the beginning of the state.

The first seat of justice in the county was Ottokee, because of its central locale in the county; a wooden courthouse was assembled in 1851. Wauseon was platted 1854 when the barns was extended to that point. The village was incorporated in 1859.

With the commercial success that the barns brought to Wauseon, it was designated governmental center of county in 1871. The Fulton County Courthouse was assembled in 1872. 1890 Railroad map: Wauseon is now the county seat. According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 5.19 square miles (13.44 km2), of which 5.17 square miles (13.39 km2) is territory and 0.02 square miles (0.05 km2) is water. There were 3,061 housing units at an average density of 592.1 per square mile (228.6/km2).

There were 2,798 homeholds of which 38.0% had kids under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% were married couples living together, 13.1% had a female homeholder with no husband present, 4.8% had a male homeholder with no wife present, and 30.7% were non-families.

28.6% of inhabitants were under the age of 18; 8.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.6% were from 25 to 44; 24.5% were from 45 to 64; and 13.1% were 65 years of age or older.

There were 2,851 housing units at an average density of 578.0 per square mile (223.3/km ).

The ethnic makeup of the town/city was 92.77% White, 0.55% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.82% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 4.02% from other competitions, and 1.47% from two or more competitions.

There were 2,706 homeholds out of which 37.9% had kids under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female homeholder with no husband present, and 30.7% were non-families.

In the town/city the populace was spread out with 29.1% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older.

The median income for a homehold in the town/city was $39,591, and the median income for a family was $48,981.

About 3.9% of families and 5.2% of the populace were below the poverty line, including 6.5% of those under age 18 and 1.7% of those age 65 or over.

The school precinct is the Wauseon Exempted Village School District.
