Uniontown was titled #69 on CNN Money's "Best Places to Live 2005" list. Uniontown was platted in 1816. Two stagecoach lines which met near the initial town site caused the name "Union" to be chose. By the 1830s, Uniontown had a church, schoolhouse, tannery, tavern, and two stores. A postal service called Uniontown has been in operation since 1920. According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the CDP has a total region of 2.5 square miles (6.5 km2), of which 2.5 square miles (6.5 km2) is territory and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) (0.79%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,802 citizens , 1,141 homeholds, and 861 families residing in the CDP.
The ethnic makeup of the CDP was 98.14% White, 0.32% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.14% from other competitions, and 0.71% from two or more competitions.
